Anyway, here goes....
Artist: Eli Young Band
Song: Enough is Enough
Album: Jet Black & Jealous (2008)
I just love these guys. One of those groups that finally made it on the national music scene. These guys got their start in Denton, TX. Mike Eli and James Young attended college together at the University of North Texas, sharing a dorm room together as freshmen. The addition of bassist Jon Jones and drummer Chris Thompson changed the then named group, Eli & Young, to the Eli Young Band.
The group opened for Miranda Lambert in 2003, who was then just a rising star herself. They've opened for acts such as Pat Green, Cross Canadian Ragweed, and Jack Ingram. Of course, they aren't opening acts any longer. These guys are headliners playing for arena and stadium filled crowds.
They didn't get their first major hit until the album "Life At Best" hit the scenes with "Crazy Girl", written by Liz Rose and Lee Brice. The song turned them into a sensation earning them a platinum selling record, a number one hit, and the CMA award for Song of the Year. Now, even though "Crazy Girl" wasn't written by them, the guys do write the majority of their own music, staying true to their Red Dirt roots and only agreeing to the songs that truly speak to them.
I really enjoy these guys. They've got the edgier side of Texas country mixed in with a little heartland. I really love "Down On Padre", "Oklahoma Girl", "Guinevere", "Small Town Kid", and so many more. This is one of those bands that I can put on and not have to switch songs very often at all. Especially from their 2005 album, "Level" (it's my favorite).
You want a break up song? Listen to the one above. You want a break up, but don't regret it song? Listen to "Here's to You". You want a heartbreak song? Listen to "What Does?". You want a fun song? "Listen to "Down on Padre" or "Drunk Last Night". You want a love song? Listen to "I Still Think It's Me". Need some motivation? Listen to "The Fight" or "Mystery in the Making". And while you're listening to those you should check out "My Old Man's Son" because it's awesome too.
Happy listening. That should keep you busy for a while. :)
