January 19, 2015--Cameran Nelson, Shotgun

Artist:  Cameran Nelson
Song:  Shotgun
Album:  Shotgun [Single]

Cameran Nelson isn't a name you hear unless you're following the Texas music scene...but the man and his band, Guardrail Damage Ahead, are here to stay.  Honestly, it was hard just picking out one song to share a video or lyric of.  The group started in 2010 and had their first big success just two years ago in 2013.

If you listen to his song, "Happy to Beer" you'll hear the names of a number of other artists ranging from Roger Creager all the way to Lee Brice.  Nelson has played with all of these artists and it's even more evident that he's drank with them.  The song is bound to make you smile and chuckle from time to time.  The above mentioned song, "Shotgun", is his newest single and is moving up on the Texas music charts.

Nelson also had a song that hit number one on the Texas charts in 2014, "35 Runs Both Ways".  It's a great song!  His gravelly voice drives it home.  Cameran is a Texas boy from his head down to his boots.  He's lived over so much of Texas that, in his biography, it claims that Cameran is from 1,815 miles of Texas!

Cameran started playing bass when he was 13 in his father's country music band.  He later went on to college and studied guitar and vocals.  Cameran even had the privilege of working with the late Gary Stewart, who taught Nelson a thing or two about stage presence and how to treat and entertain your audience.  Cameran loves the live act and says so.  "I love getting to share our show and songs with new audiences."

He can do it all from love songs to fun songs and from the good times to the hard.  I believe that if you were to give him a listen, not to just one but a few of his songs, you would feel as I do.  Cameran and his band may be just starting out, but they're building steam and it won't be long until his name and music is known not just by those following the Texas music scene, but by everyone in every music scene.

Look for songs by him like, "Reckless in Texas", "Happy To Beer", "35 Runs Both Ways", "Shotgun", "Thrown", and if you're looking for a little chuckle, "Backslider's Hymn".
